Q1. How did your career journey start? Or Who/What inspired you to start this business/ entrepreneurship?

I wanted to raise my child in Goa among relatives and friends in an environment conducive to wholesome family values, I planned that I would return to Goa on the birth of my first child. As there was no suitable opportunity for me in Goa, I chose to create one as an entrepreneur.

I have a great passion for learning new things and training people so I decided to enter the entrepreneurial behavioral training field.

Over a period of five years, I got personally trained and coached by various masters various topics on the applied behavioral science of Meta Mind Management, Edward de Bono’s Six Thinking Hats & Lateral Thinking, Facilitation Skills, and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

Q2. Kindly share some information about your Business, products and services here.

I run a signature training program on Happiness & positivity based on principles of positive psychology called “Creating Positivity Within™”.  For corporate houses, I conduct trainings on various topics like Train The Trainer, Motivation, Team Building, Communication Skills, Leadership, Creative Thinking, Goal Setting & Time Management.  I also conduct psychometric assessments and executive coaching for managers.

Q3. What kind of challenges did you face while starting/doing business?

I did not have contacts in organizations when I returned back to Goa as a trainer after my stint in the Bangalore VLSI industry so it was very difficult to get training assignments. To make matters worse, most of my relatives in Goa thought that leaving a well paying job in Wipro to return to Goa as a trainer was a very stupid decision. Many people used to keep asking me how was work when I had no assignments at all. Others offered advise that I should go back to Bangalore, only my wife and a couple of close friends supported and encouraged me to continue.

Q4. Do share with our readers about your discovery period when you were facing difficulties in your business?

I used social media like Facebook and Linkedin to spread awareness about me and my offerings. I created a facebook group of inspirational quotes called “Inspire to Reach Higher” currently having over 4500 members and a group called Trainings in Goa currently having over 3500 members. I built my network slowly and steadily by meeting various people and attending various networking events. I conducted several free / low priced open-to-public talks that were organized by prestigious institutions including ISTD, GCCI, NIPM  and the International Centre, Goa (ICG).

I also created free ebooks featuring inspirational quotes by great thinkers like Zig Ziglar and Swami Vivekananda, topics like Konkani Proverbs and Customer Service and based on timeless classics like Thirukkural and the Chanakya Neeti. All of these ebooks are available for free download from my website http://www.ameyhegde.in. I also created a book of inspirational quotes, “Inspire to Reach Higher”,  available for sale on amazon.com, flipkart.com, Apple iTunes store, Kobo, Barnes & Noble and Google play.

In 2013, I founded “Goa HR Forum” that currently has over 450 HR professionals from over 200 organizations from Goa.

Q5. Share with our readers about your experiment period after the discovery period?

I am still in my experiment period! I know from my own experience that if one feels he has reached a certain level, one becomes arrogant and stops learning.

Q6. What are your future plans? Or now what is your vision for next five years?

In my regular interaction with students across our state, I find that self-confidence and motivation levels are low among many Goan youth. Currently I’m working on a short non-commercial film based on the inspiring real life story of a physically disabled entrepreneur from South Goa, Mr. Agostinho Fernandes to inspire youth to follow their passion and explore entrepreneurship as a career option. It is being directed by a young talented filmmaker, Mr. Ramprasad Adpaikar whose earlier short film “Sin”has won international recognition. I plan to release the short film in early 2015 and would like it to reach out to at least one crore people.  My vision for next five years is to create a platform to boost employability and entrepreneurial skills of Goan youth. I would also like to create a non-profit website to connect interested contributors to worthy social causes.

Q7. How would you advice/suggest new entrepreneurs who want to start & sustain in business?

1. Choose a business that you are passionate about.
2. If you want to be the best, learn from the best and keep learning.
3. Honesty, hard work and humility are essential for success even in today’s world.
4. Always strive to increase your network.
5. Be a go-giver: the more you give, the more you will get.
