Q1. How did your Musical journey start? Or Who/What inspired you to take up Music as a career?
My musical journey started at the age of three. It was my mother who was my first teacher of singing. Eventually I have been under the tutelage of many respectable music teachers and I even pursued and completed my studies with Masters in Vocal Music from Rabindra Bharati University.
Regarding taking up music as my career option, the inspiration behind this is my own self-motivation. Since childhood, I have grown up listening to many legendary singers. I aspired to see myself close to them and so I always use to motivate myself that one day I will also sing, and people will hear and love my voice. This urge and dedication towards music is the reason I have taken up Music as a career.
Q2. Kindly share some information about your Music here.
My path of music has different chapters. I participated in Music Reality shows in Television. After that I aspired and put my eyes on carving a place in Bengal Music Industry. After numerous jingles, TV recordings finally I received my first playback break in a Bengali film. The song was well appreciated and since then eventually I started treading the path of Bengali film music as well as Asian countries' film music. I have done playback for films, web series, TV series, Music albums.
My debut playback in Bollywood happened in 2010. Apart from that simultaneously I have been doing live concerts all over India, other Asian countries and USA.
Q3. What kind of challenges did you face while starting/doing Music?
As I started my musical journey challenges were difficult. Hailing from small town, coming to a big city and pursuing music all alone was itself challenging. There was absence of proper guidance about how to pursue music and what should be rightly done.
However, while doing music the hardest challenge is to get good opportunities that are fruitful, to struggle amidst so many competitions and to maintain what you have earned as everything is quite futile in this industry. Also, a challenge to upgrade and push yourself everyday so that you keep on doing good work.
In this recent pandemic crisis, music industry has suffered a big blow. Many of us are not in the regular flow of work and it is indeed challenging us artistically, emotionally and financially.
Q4. Do share with our readers about your discovery period when you were facing difficulties in your Music career?
Although I may sound self-centered, the answer to my difficulties have always been my self-motivation and never give up attitude. At times when work is not going good, earnings are mere, and dreams are getting blurry, it is my fighting spirit and love for music that drives me on. Actually, crisis have always helped me to rediscover my music in a more positive way and has helped me to learn new dimensions and looking for unexplored avenues.
Q5. Share with our readers about your experiment period after the discovery period?
I have learned new vocal music genres, delved deep into gathering knowledge about music and working on my shortcomings. Also experimented with genres like Hindustani Classical, Swing and Blues and listened various songs to understand music and practicing everyday with more vigor.
Instead of pondering over external factors, you must find out what are your own possible shortcomings that you should work about.
Q6. What are your future plans? Or now what is your vision for next five years?
I want to try more new musical genres and to emerge as a well-trained and educated singer. Five years down the line want to see myself as a more successful playback singer and performer of national fame. Now I am working in regional sector but want to work in national music industry. I want my voice to be the talk of the town and everybody should love my voice and appreciate my singing making me popular and successful.
Q7. How would you advise/suggest upcoming Musicians who want to start & sustain their career in Music?
Well have faith in yourself, your music and most importantly be very patient. Learn your music, listen to different kind of songs. Being a singer, it is very essential to learn and sing various kind of songs and practice your music lessons a lot. Also try to sing in microphone and record what you are singing which in turn will help you to know your voice. Study and gather information about recording sessions, if u get a chance to work in a recording studio just grab it. And lastly do not stop dreaming and believe in your dreams.
Q8. Are you an independent pop artist/band who does originals or someone who is into cover versions?
Right now, I am a playback singer singing for music directors and music producers, as a result I have many original film songs sung by me. But I am not an absolutely independent artist or band but yes definitely want to try independent production in future.
Q9. If you are an independent artist/band who does originals, then how and where do you see your songs getting released?
If ever I work as an independent artist creating and producing my own original songs, I definitely want to release them through reputed music labels and subsequently digital release in platform like Youtube and other music channels to maximize my audience.
